There are many colleges that offer Bsc Agriculture and the college that fascinates me most esp for agriculture programmes was LPU. My sister did her Bsc Agricultue from some oter college but her best friend did from LPU and the practical knowledge that her friend had was outstanding. It was due to 600 acres of land of LPU for which esp land is segregated for agricultural students. Also it was the fost prvate university t recieve ICAr approval. We regretted if we would have been guided more proper for my sister. LPU is the first private university in India to be authorised by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) With the rise in demand of better agricultural practices, the career scope of BSc Agriculture is quite ample these days and doing this course does not just bind you to agriculture-related labor, but rather opens the door to a wide variety of jobs. Many of us wonder, why BSc Agriculture? It’s strange because being a primary source of livelihood for the majority of Indians, it remains the last priority among students choosing a career option. BSc in Agriculture is a broad-based course with great potential. It deals with things like food production, horticulture, animal rearing, rural economy and rural development, environmental health, etc. Other industries may face downsizing but agriculture can never fall prey because “food” is the basic necessity for life. Feeding the world will never face a recession or a slowdown. In fact, the development in technology, research, and innovation has multiplied the scope of agriculture in a big way. BSc and Msc Agriculture is offered by various government and private universities in India. The demand for graduates with a degree in agriculture is increasing every day in India and abroad. Course fees are also considerably lower in comparison to other professional degrees, while rewarding with good jobs and a better package. A student pursuing BSc and Msc Agriculture course will study a wide variety of subjects including agronomy, soil sciences, horticulture (fruit science & vegetable), plant breeding and genetics, entomology, plant pathology, animal sciences, extension education, plant biochemistry, agriculture economics, basics of biotechnology, etc. The syllabus is as per the guidelines of ICAR (Indian Council of Agriculture Research) and is designed to train students to understand ways of improving the crop production in a sustainable manner and to provide overall knowledge related to agriculture and related disciplines. BSc and Msc Agriculture graduates have ample job opportunities in the government as well as private sector. They can be hired as Agriculture Development Officers (ADO) and Block Development Officers (BDO). I must advise choosing the University that offers all-round development in both the courses. School of Agriculture, Lovely Professional University which is the FIRST PRIVATE SCHOOL to get accredited by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). Students are also involved in Practical crop production, Rural and Work Experience (RAWE), Nursery raising for horticulture crops, Crop And Seed Identification, Soil And Water Sampling And Analysis, Soil Description And Interpretation, Organic And Chemical Fertilizer, etc. projects other than regular course work. School of Agriculture offers programs with up to date curriculum designed to suits the aspirations of agricultural industries as well as major research and development sectors. Ranked Top in India by Silicon India • The school has 2500+ students who are involved in different research trials throughout the year. • LPU provides copious opportunities to all the students. University provides additional placement-oriented classes and students also studied subjects like analytical skills, soft skills, etc. as part of the curriculum to prepare the students for all types of competitive exams as well. I would like to name a few companies that visit LPU- Nestle, VLCC Health Care, HDFC, Rallis India, SYNGENTA INDIA LTD, WIPRO LIMITED, and many other firms. Just last year, LPU student Kavita Faman has placed in Monsanto foods at the annual package of INR 1 crore. The package really depends on what he can show to the recruiters that, how much he is worth or deserved. There were some students who cracked the placement and got offered 1 crore LPA, while many failed to do so.On an average the Agriculture students of LPU is offered and placed in the starting package of 5.5 TO 6 LPA(Fixed salary) while there may be cases of students getting less than that or more than that.Like I said, LPU will provide you the platform and the opportunity, but it is really you who have to go and perform on the platform being provided. LPU is the only private university that has ICAR approval. Agriculture is a growing sector in the present times and emerging as a field of opportunities. Agriculture is the right career option for the future of development. Agriculture is one of the most diversified fields than ever before, offering several jobs and self-employment opportunities to agriculture students.
