Being a combination of technology and science of biology, biotechnology has a broad scope to include sciences like health, virology, immunology, agriculture, seed technology, plant physiology, cell biology, etc. This course articulates the concepts from basic science to technology with relevant practice through lab and projects pertaining to biotechnology for building the problem solving skills, keeping industry requirements in place. Many renowned universities offer this course with umpteen opportunities and one such university is: Lovely Professional University: It prepares students to evolve themselves professionally by enhancing their personality, soft-skills thereby making students competent to sit in a placement drive and secure good packages.

Biotechnology certainly has a bright future. India is slowly becoming a medical hub. Hence the production of medicine too is going to increase on a very large scale. Also, the cost of medicine as compared to global rate is pretty low therefore the world is looking upto India to help them. India played a supporting role during COVID by offering free COVID vaccines to many countries. So biotechnology is going to stay. LPUs biotech program is an Engineering program that seamlessly articulates the concepts from basic science to technology with relevant practice through labs and projects on biotechnology for building the problem-solving skills, keeping industry requirements in place. LPU School of Bioengineering and Biosciences is equipped with state-of-the-art Bioprocess Engineering and Bioscience labs and believes in imparting knowledge to students through a practical approach to achieve mastery in plant and animal physiology. The faculty works hard tirelessly in enabling students with an acumen to apply the findings of Biosciences in the fields of medicine, forensics, nutrition, and dietetics for the benefit of the community. The eligibility is Pass with 60% aggregate marks in 10+2 (with Physics, Chemistry, English and Mathematics or Biology or Biotechnology) or equivalent, subject to qualifying LPUNEST. B.Tech Biotech students have a vast scope as they can work in sectors of pharmaceuticals, agriculture, healthcare, food processing, nutrition, animal science, and environmental conservation. Not in terms of opportunities, even salary packages of biotechnology professionals are lucrative The highest package LPU students got is 12 LPA. Students are placed in the best brands likeRoots Analysis, Dr. Lal Path Labs, Nestle, Meditab, Zyla Health, Panacea Biotech, Pulsus Health, Practo, Alembic Pharmaceuticals, Zydus Cadila, Healthplix Technologies, Indegene Life Systems, Redcliffe Life Diagnostics, Sagacious Research, Serum Institute of India, Cactus Communications, Aakash Educational Services, PIMS, Titan Biotech, Allied analytics, Cognizant, Wipro, Hi Care, Lifecell, Databridge Services, Eclerx, Wisdom Global, TechSci Research, Dalmia Healthcare, Freyr Solutions, Meditab, Cryoviva Biotech, Poly Medicure Ltd., Nanoveda Solutions, etc.

Dear student,

Biotechnology is a highly research oriented field. There is a lot of scope in this field. After completion of class 12th, with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics, students pursue B.Tech in Biotechnology.

For higher studies, students can do their Master degree in Biotechnology in a specialised field such as plant biotech, bioinformatics, genetics, molecular biology etc.

Upon completion of M.Sc in Biotechnology students can find jobs in research labs of universities and other research institutions. They can also take the job of lecturer after clearing UGC-NET and a Ph.D. degree.

Some of the reputed institutes that offer Biotechnology courses In India are-
