INDUSTRIAL MICROBIOLOGY Develop an understanding of the role microorganism plays in fermentation and its industrial importance. PROJECT PREPARATION AND MANAGEMENT The course emphasises on the importance of Project Management in a business and enables us to use tools and techniques for decision making. RISK ANALYSIS The course will expose the students to various risks encountered during handling, processing and storage of food and methods to analyse the risks involved and their remedy. FLAVOUR CHEMISTRY TECHNOLOGY The course will help the students to understand the Science behind the art of flavouring foods, their analysis, the problem of off-flavours and the reasons thereof, development of flavours for specific applications, and legal aspects on use of flavours in food products. FOOD PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT Impart knowledge about various technologies for food products development. FOOD QUALITY MANAGEMENT Provides information on physical, chemical and biological contaminants in foods and awareness about quality management in the food production chain. PROCESSING OF PLANTATION CROPS HERBS AND SPICES The course is about the processing, equipment used and value addition of plantation crops like tea, coffee, coconut, cashew and arecanut. Also processing of spices, herbs and medicinal plants are dealt with in this course. This makes LPU an ideal choice for the programme. Recently NIRF has ranked LPU among the top 100 universities in the country ! The maximum salary LPU students got this year was Rs 23 lpa and Rs 3.3 lpa was average for B Sc Food Technology. LPU offers 200 programs out of which B.Sc food technology is one of the program which is of three year Food Technology degree programme produces graduates with strong basic concepts of food and nutrition in order to craft skillful and industry ready food expert for addressing the malnutrition challenges.The Eligibility of the program is 60% aggregate marks in 10+2 (with English, Physics, Chemistry & Maths / Biology/ Biotechnology /Food Processing as vocational subject + LPUNEST) or equivalent, subject to qualifying LPUNEST or CUET. Highlights of the curriculum are as follow: A student can avail an option of undergraduate research to go beyond the obvious. The Student going for the research option will have to study four courses as Open Minor or Generic elective courses and the final year Capstone project of the UnderGraduate program will also be associated with the research options. A set of four elective courses outside the discipline to develop additional skills. Courses can be selected from professional enhancement, management, Animation, photography, humanities, and other fields not related to the core discipline of the program. Placement:The highest package offered to the student is Rs 12 LPA and The average is Rs 7.23 LPA.
