I will advise you to identify second option and that too good engineering institute i.e LPU Engineering programmes are the heart of any institution and so is of LPU. There is no point to compare because every organisation is just doing good at their places but yes I have heard alot about LPU because of its good number of years of establishment and the rankings it possess. Last year my friend wanted to admit his son in good engineering institute. After lot of inquiry, we decided to opt for LPU. As we all know that B. Tech Mechanical Engineering is the branch of engineering that involves production, designing, and operations of machines and the main objective of LPU is to prepare students for applying the principles of mechanical engineering for designing, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. LPU provides the different areas under study such as Applied Mechanics, Machine Design, Materials Engineering, manufacturing Engineering and many more. The Mechanical Department of LPU has highly experienced and qualified staff pursuing their research in thrust areas such as CAD/CAM, Mechanical design, Thermal engineering, Fluid dynamics, Manufacturing Engineering, Tool design and Flexible Manufacturing Systems/Automation. The Department has to its credit more than 100 research publications in International, National Journals including prestigious ASME Transactions, International Conference and National Conference. The companies which have visited in LPU are Asahi Glass India Ltd ,Cognizant ,Tech Mahindra , Anglo, Eastern Ship Mgmt , Zycus , Think and Learn , Cactus Communications , XL Dynamics , Lava International , Unisys , Jet Airways , ELGI (Off Campus) , Daikin Air-conditioning , Honda and many more. Apart from the placements students can pursue their career in: 1. Defence Services 2. Indian Engineering services 3. PSUs like NTPC, NHPC, ONGC etc. 4. HIgher Studies like M.Tech, MBA. 5. Dear Aspirant, the selection of institute to pursue course is very important to build a strong and valuable career in Mechanical Engineering. There are very few good universities who are doing well for his students for their best career. There are certain parameters such as placements, infrastructure, faculty level, environment, growth etc. to be considered while selection of institute for pursuing education. It a big question in the mind of a student as well as parents that what will be the offers and placement scenario of educational institute when the student will be about to complete the course. LPU is a well renowned university in India with 30K+ students all across the world and with 4000 experienced faculty members and staff members. As per NIRF-2020 ranking, LPU is amongst top 100 institutes of India. There are more than 200 programmes to choose and with a great infrastructure. LPU provides all the facilities within the campus itself and have well established labs for Mechanical Engineering course and have strong industry inputs such as HAL, ISRO,DRDO, INMAS. LPU has earned many affiliations, recognition's and accreditation down the lane and mark itself among the few of the top universities. Even the placement opportunities in LPU are much better than other universities as it is ranked 5th amongst the other universities for its placement records. So, I would prefer you to choose LPU to pursue your higher studies. LPU has more than 700+ tie ups with industries and companies to support academics and placements of his students. Companies such as Jindal Steel, Mahindra Motors, Tata Motors, Ashok Layland, Escort, Sonalika, Capgemini, Tech. Mahindra, BOSCH, Amazon, SAP, Texas Instruments, Cadence, Sandisk, Moserbear,Skyline Airlines, MERADO are visiting campus for internships and placements. Tanya Arora of LPU who is recently in news, got placed in Microsoft with 42 LPA (https://m.timesofindia.com/spotlight/lpu-one-of-the-few-indian-universities-from-where-google-microsoft-hire/articleshow/75690005.cms). So, we have no doubt that LPU is best and a bench marks for placement and internships of students. One more point I want to highlight here is that the scholarships offered by LPU helps a student without any monetary burden. Now, LPU has floated COVID-19 Front-line Scholarship for COVID survivors and their dependents as well which is the best possible effort it can provide to target every aspirant in this current scenario. So, these are the few points of LPU which will help you for your decision to take admission upto 15 July,2020. For more information you can visit university website or call toll free number. Dear Student,

IITs don't take students in the second year of B.Tech for the Lateral Entry programmes. You will have to apply for first year of B.Tsch through JEE Main and JEE Advanced scores.
