Joining the Indian Navy will depend on the levels for which you want to apply. Candidates can either apply for Indian Navy after 12th board exams or after their graduation is over. In order to be selected for either of the levels, you will have to clear an entry level exam. For each entry level there is a separate exam. Following are the different exams to join Indian Navy:

List of Navy Entrance Exams after passing 12th Board Examination

  • Indian Navy Sailors (Direct Entry) – Examination
  • I.N.A Exam - Indian Navy Artificer Apprentices Exam
  • Indian Navy Dockyard Apprentices Exam
  • Indian Navy Sailors Matric Entry Recruitment Exam
  • National Defense Academy and Naval Academy Examination
  • Indian Navy Senior Secondary Recruits Examination

List of Navy Entrance Exams after completing Graduation

  • Indian Navy SSC (Engineering/Electrical) Entrance Exam
  • Combined Defense Services Entrance Exam

All the above-mentioned exams are conducted by UPSC and recruits are selected for the following posts:

  • Diving Officer
  • General Service Officer
  • Hydrographic Officer
  • Law Officer
  • Logistics Officer
  • Naval Armament Inspection Officer
  • Observer Officer
  • Pilot Officer
  • Provost Officer
  • Submarine Officer

If you are an engineering graduate, then you can apply to similar positions in the technical department of Navy. Other positions for which recruitments are done are Education Officers, Submarine Electrical Officer, Naval Construction Officer, Medical Officer, and so on. You can pick the courses according to your qualification.

You will have to enhance your skills in subjects like english, general knowledge, mathematics and science as all the entrance exams have these subjects in common.
