Dear student,
There are a few work-arounds if you want to study M. Tech without giving GATE exam.
Admission to IIT's & NIT's:
If you are a working professional, and are able to provide documents confirming that your employer is willing to relieve you to study, you can apply. Of course, you will need to provide relevant authority letter verifying the same. The no. of seats under this category is limited, so a person with wider and more experience will probably get through first.
Admission to IIIT's:
IIIT's conduct their own entrance exam.
Admission to Central & State Universities:
Some Central universities demand a GATE score, but some central & state universities conduct their own entrance exam.
Admission to Private Universities:
Older private universities has the provision for admission to M. Tech without any entrance exam. However, the fees charged is pretty high in these universities.
Admission to Private Deemed Universities:
They also conduct their own entrance exam mostly, followed by an Interview. Admission here is easy, but the fee is huge!
Quality Improvement Program (QIP):
This programmes was initiated by the Govt. of India to improve the quality of teaching staff in state colleges by giving them a chance to attend India’s top most engineering schools. All the faculty members with three years plus experience are eligible for this.
