Dear student,

If your are passionate about design and are artistic in nature, Interior Designing is a good option. With urbanisation, the available space area for residential & commercial is reducing quickly. New age interior designers have to be creative and imaginative to make optimum use of available space. This requires technical planning. As an interior designing professional, you will need to design exclusive furniture artefacts and fittings besides learning managerial skills.

The nature of work of an interior designer is such that you need to have excellent management and communication skills, as well as be creative with your work. In India, depending on the employer and one's experience the salary, junior level designers can earn between Rs. 10, 000 - Rs. 30, 000. As you gather more experience and add more clients to your list, you market value grows from Rs. 30, 000 to Rs. 75,000 a month. Senior interior designers can make upto Rs. 800,000 to Rs. 3,000,000 per client or project.

Some of the top interior designing colleges in India include:

My sister has completed B.Design Fashion from LPU. Lovely Professional University is regarded as one of the Best Design colleges in India and Punjab, LPU School of Design offers its students cutting-edge labs and equipment to simulate the industry environment with practical exposure to fashion industry right from designing to merchandising. She told me Study tours are an integral part of curriculum with visitation of architectural and prominent sites provides maximum exposure to learn technicalities of architecture. She said. Fashion designing is a branch having a lot of scope and in LPU, they give a lot of exposure to students, through guest lecturers from industry top shots, various in campus and out campus fashion shows, and also they have their own store where the students creations are showcased and sold. The school provides a platform for students to experiment with creative designs, patterns, fabrics and colours. Live with fashion events, visits by renowned national and international fashion designers, innovation and creativity is fostered in the students at every step. They are encouraged to experiment with different materials to create conceptual wear and accessories. Also Students are exposed to fashion shows, craft fairs, industry internships and craft documentation. They get intensive exposure to practical work in Pattern making, Draping, Weaving, Printing, Dyeing, Garment Construction labs. Students are given various Live-projects during the course of the program to create commercially viable designs. LPU provides a good platform for placements for all streams and programs. LPU has a separate dept which looks after placement opportunities. apart from that, each school has its own placement coordinator who is responsible and actively works for not only calling companies to the campus, but also for preparing students for placements by giving them proper training. LPU students have been placed in well reputed national as well as international clothing brand like H & M, acquiring 14 Lakhs + per annum pay package. Genesis, a premium brand under Reliance Retail selected 6 students at an average pay package of 4 lac Per annum. SatyaPaul selected 4 students @ the average package of 4 lac Per annum.
