Astrakhan State Medical University is one of Russia's oldest and most prestigious medical institutions. The university was established in 1932 by the Russian Federation.The university, which uses European medical education, is accredited by NMC (National Medical Commission), WHO (World Health Organisation), International Medical Education Directory (IMED), US Education Department and General Council Medicine of Great Britain. In addition, it is included in the list of World Directory of Medical Schools and has been ranked among the top 100 universities according to Forbes. It is the only university building of Class A in Southern Russia, with all its specialties and specialisations having a state legal accreditation.
