Founded in 1920, OMSK State Medical University is one of the oldest universities in Siberia. The institution had a humble beginning as the Medical Faculty of the Siberian Institute of Veterinary Medicine & Zoology with 186 students enrolled. The university assumed its current name in the year 1924, four years after its inception. Today, even after a century, OMSK State Medical University stands as one of the largest medical institutions in Siberia, constantly ranking amongst the Top 100 Universities in Russia. The university is accredited by the Ministry of Education, Russia; Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation; NMC (National Medical Commission) and WHO (World Health Organisation).

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

Situated in one of the largest cities of Russia - OMSK, the university has been built at an ideal location. It is well connected with the entire city and the neighbouring cities as well through various modes of transportation including the air mode. Given its location in the Siberian region, it would come as no surprise that the temperature in the city drops down to -16 degree celsiusin winters. The summers are relatively warmer with the temperature reaching up to 19 degree celsius. OMSK State Medical University offers accommodation facilities to its non-native students along with canteen services at reasonable rates. Students are free to benefit from the other facilities provided at the hostel campus including a gymnasium, ski centre, swimming pool, basketball, football, rhythmic gymnastics, two standard sports halls, a fitness centre, dance studio, leisure complexes, and much more. All of these provisions encourage students to get admission in courses offered at OMSK State Medical University. The MBBS course offered here is a six-year-long programme backed by a constantly improving teaching method.

Accomplishments & Alumni

OMSK State Medical University is a proud member of IFMSA (International Federation of Medical Students' Associations). It joined the International Association of Dental Students (IADS) in 2007 giving students the opportunity to participate in international exchange programmes. The university has partnership relations with Ruhr University Bochum (Germany), Oita University (Japan), Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Moldova), University of Perugia (Italy) and various universities in Uzbekistan. The institution is also working on implementing international cooperation in 24 agreements with the universities of non-CIS and CIS countries. The university boasts of having trained over 35,000 doctors. The alumni of OMSK State Medical University work in all regions of Russia and in both CIS and non-CIS countries. Some of the famous graduates of OMSK include Raymond Mikhailovich - Rector of OSMU, BARKOV Lev Aleksandrovich - Member of the Board of the Russian Society of Pathologists, BASIN Boris Lvovich - Member of the Board of the Russian Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, WAGNER Vladimir Davydovich - President of the Dental Association of Russia, and many more.
