Basant Panchmi (26th January) - History, Significance & Importance

Abandoned by wife, Kalidasa was drowning himself. Goddess Saraswati came out of the water and asked Kalidasa to bathe in it. Blessed with wisdom, he became a great poet.

To honour Goddess Saraswati, Vasant Panchami is celebrated. While in some parts, the harvest and onset of spring is also celebrated.
