UPSC IES aspirants have to undergo three stages of selection process:
 1.Prelims Exam
2. Mains Exam
3.Interview
UPSC IES 2023 Selection Process
The UPSC ESE/IES prelims exam 2023 comprises objective type questions. Paper 1 is general paper while paper 2 tests learner's competency in core engineering subject.

1st stage: IES Prelims Exam
The paper 1 of UPSC IES prelims will carry 200 marks while the second paper that will be based on core engineering topics carry 300 marks.
UPSC IES 2023 Prelims Exam Marking Scheme
The UPSC Engineering Services Exam (ESE) Mains exam is divided into two papers having conventional questions. Both papers will be based on engineering topics.
2nd Stage: IES Mains Exam
UPSC IES Mains exam requires aspirants to thoroughly prepare core engineering subjects as this paper will carry 300 marks each for both the papers.
