When planning to study abroad, intakes and timeline are the most important things to be known for an aspirant. Australia, which is one of the most sought after destinations to study abroad, has two intakes in a year i.e February and July. Both intakes are preferred by international students for enrollment. However, maximum enrollment takes place for the July session. 

The deadline dates to complete the application varies for different universities in Australia, however, the time period of deadline is usually between February to June for July intake. Admissions for international students are usually considered on First Come First Serve Basis because of the large number of applicants and competition. It is thus advisable to complete the application as early as possible for early shortlisting in one of the desired universities of Australia.

August 2020 to November 2020: Shortlist Colleges 

If you are interested in applying for admissions in Australia for July intake then the first thing that you must start with is start shortlisting the universities and courses at least 10 months before the commencement of the session. Following guidelines  will help you shortlist right colleges for admission:

  •  Research about the universities to confirm the eligibility criteria and application process.
  • Check intakes and important dates to apply for admission. 
December 2020 to February 2021- Appear for Exams

Once universities are shortlisted and eligibility criteria are confirmed you must start taking the entrance exam be it GRE/, GMAT or English Langage test like IELTS/ TOEFL. Following are the guidelines while taking the tests:

  • Ensure that the test you are taking is acceptable at a specific institute.
  • For July 2021 intake in Australia ensure to take the test by February 2021.
  • Also, this period is the right time to draft other documents like Statement of Purpose (SOP) and Letter of Recommendation.
  • Collect documents like Transcripts, experience letter to be submitted with the application form.
  • Institutes only accepts original copy of test scores. Make sure you have the original scorecard of tests before submitting it at the institute. 
February 2021 to March 2020- Apply at Universities

After taking the test start applying at the universities by filling in the application form. Following is the procedure and guidelines to apply at Australian universities:

  • The universities accepts application online. You must check the application process for admission at specific institute, follow the step by step procedure and fill in the application form.
  • Make sure you complete the application and upload the required documents along with the application before the deadline.
  • The application process is incomplete without paying the application fee. The application fee must be paid before submitting the application. An acknowledgement mail will be received on the registered email ID once payment is done successfully.
March 2020 to April 2020- Accept Offer Letter 

The university sends an offer letter to an individual whose admission is confirmed for a specific course. The candidate must follow the following points related to offer letter:

  • Make sure to keep checking the official email ID for admission related updates as all communication related to admission is done through the email.
  • You can also login to the account created on the official website of the university to check the status of the application.
  • Once the offer letter is received, you must make sure to accept the offer letter to confirm the admission. Accept the terms and condition to confirm admission.
  •  Some universities may also require you to appear for an interview as a part of the admission process. 
  • You may also be asked to pay the initial fee to confirm your acceptance of admission at a specific university. 
April 2021 to June 2021- Apply for a Student Visa in Australia

Applying for a visa is a time taking process and also an important document to stay in Australia for higher education.

  • You must apply for a Student Visa as soon as you receive the final offer letter from the university.
  •  Once you have an offer from the university you can also apply for an education loan and look for alternatives for financial aid like government funds, private funds and scholarships as well as university-level scholarships. 
June 2020 to July 2020- Book Tickets and Plan Travel 
  • Finally, when you have all the documents ready like student visa, offer letter, passports etc. plan your travel date.
  • Book your flight tickets early as possible to get tickets at a cheaper rate.
  • Ensure to carry all the mandatory documents while travelling like passport, offer letter, approved visa, academic documents etc 
  • You must also book for on-campus or off-campus accommodation before arrival in Australia for a hassle-free stay in the country.
