Formerly the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET)-UG is the qualifying test for BDS and MBBS in Indian medical and dental colleges. It is administered every year by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
This year (2021), over 16 lakh Indians took the NEET-UG vying for a mere 84,000 medical seats across the country.
The NEET exam is conducted in online mode and in 11 languages inlcuding English, Hindi, Odia, Tamil, Kannada, Assamese, Marathi, Marathi, Urdu Bengali and Telugu. The total duration of the exam is 3 hours within which candidates are asked to answer 180 questions. The paper is divided into the sections of Biology (Botany and Zoology), Chemistry and Physics.
With the help of NEET 2021 answer keys, students can easily predict their scores and chances of getting into a medical university of their choice, be it in India or abroad.
For each correct answer, four marks will be awarded.
For each wrong answer, one mark will be deducted.
The formula to calculate NEET UG scores is total correct answers X 4 – total incorrect answers X 1.
The NEET cutoff percentile remains the same every year although the corresponding marks change.

According to the National Medical Commission (NMC; formerly MCI), NEET has been made compulsory for admission to MBBS abroad after May 2018. It is mandatory that all students willing to study MBBS abroad should qualify NEET, the result of which shall remain valid for a period of three years from the date of announcement of the result.
Qualifying NEET also entitles a candidate to pursue an equivalent medical course including a pre-medical or language course, if required followed by MBBS or equivalent medical course for taking admission to an undergraduate medical course in an international medical university.
Furthermore, candidates must avail an eligibility certificate for the same. The NMC says that an Indian citizen who wants to join an undergraduate medical course in any medical institution abroad should approach the Council to get an Eligibility Certificate.
While we have established that NEET-UG is mandatory to study MBBS abroad, there are also some other criteria that one must fulfil in order to be considered for MBBS abroad. These are as follows:
The candidate must have attained the age of at least 17 on December 31 of the year of admission.
Must have complete 10+2 from a recognised board of education.
Must have obtained an aggregate percentage of at least 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology, with English as a compulsory subject in 10+2.
Must also submit a medical certificate at the time of admission stating that the candidate is not suffering from any contagious disease.
YES, you certainly can practice medicine in Inda after completing MBBS abroad! Most of the MBBS universities abroad are approved by the NMC, making the degree offered by the universities valid in India along with other countries. To be able to practice in India, a foreign medical graduate should pass the FMGE exam.
The FMGE exam is only to verify students for practising medicine in India and clearing it is not as difficult if students devote enough time to preparing for it. They have to answer 150 questions out of 300 correctly, which is a 50% passing rate.
