US News & World Rankings 2021 (Released)

The 2021 edition of the US News Best Colleges was announced on September 14, 2020. Check out the top US colleges with the most international students, the best study abroad programmes, the top national and global universities, and more. 

From global to regional universities, the US News & World, a news and information publisher, has been providing rankings of universities/colleges in the US and across the world since 1983. The 2021 edition of the US News Best Colleges was announced on September 14, 2020, with various updates to the methodology.

US News Best Colleges 2021 comprises an increased weight of outcome measures such as graduation and retention rates, social mobility, a new ranking of computer science programmes, among others. 

The edition evaluates more than 1,400 universities and colleges on a total of 17 indicators of academic quality. Read on to find out more the rankings, top US colleges with the best study abroad programmes, schools with the most international students, top national universities, and more. 

Highlights of US News & World Rankings 2021

Given below are the major highlights of the US News & World Rankings 2021:

  • Elon University, North Carolina has claimed the top spot for study abroad programmes in the US.

  • The New School in New York ranks first among universities/colleges in the US with the highest proportion of international students.

  • The top five national universities are Princeton, Harvard, Columbia, and a tie for fourth place between MIT and Yale.

  • Harvard University is ranked number 1 among the 2021 best global universities with a perfect score of 100.0.

  • The overall rankings are based on outcomes, faculty resources, financial resources, excellence and alumni giving at more than 1,800 institutions across the US.
