UK has an incomparable reputation for high quality higher education, with several universities which have time and again made it to the world top rankings. Not to mention the desirability for UK graduates all around the world. To be one to benefit from the British education system, we have compiled a list of reasons why you should opt for the UK as your study abroad destination in Fall 2020.
Reasons to Study in the UK this Autumn 2020
UK universities are all set to welcome Indian students in autumn 2020. They are ready with a style of teaching to ensure that education is delivered in a safe environment. Let us now check out the following reasons why you should study in the UK in 2020 despite the pandemic:
Blended Learning at Universities in the UK
Almost all UK universities will be shifting online from August 2020 with face-to-face tuition, online lectures and seminars. Campuses will be open with the public health and social distancing guidelines in place.
Universities in the UK have adopted a number of measures to operate in the usual manner. Some of these measures include extending the way Pre-Sessional English offer can be accessed, exploring blended learning options for any students who are unable to join in September, January to be started in key subjects, and so on.
Most of the universities in the country plan on providing in-person teaching and social opportunities in Autumn 2020 or at the start of the 2020 term. Many are also looking at ways to offer in-person fitness, sporting and wellbeing activities to September/October 2020 international students.
Student Visa Extensions/Flexible Processes
The UK government has announced that all the UK universities applicants will receive their Tier 4 visas before the commencement of their studies/programme. They will be able to continue or start their visa application process despite the changes caused by the pandemic and lockdowns.
The country has further promised that it is keeping track of all travel and public health restrictions in various countries and trying to lift local restrictions and reopen application centres as soon as possible. It has also awarded one month of ‘grace period’ extension to all those international students whose visas were to expire by June 31, 2020.
An All-New Graduate Route
The Graduate Immigration Route has been introduced for the international students who manage to complete their undergraduate degree or above at a UK institution by summer 2021 with a track record of compliance. This step will ensure that Indian students and those from other countries get the opportunity to get employment after graduation.
The route has been launched to attract and increase the number of international students in the country to 6,00,000 by the year 2030. Applicants would be required to submit a separate application for the same.
High-Standard UK Degrees
Students interested in applying to UK universities can continue with their application processes as most universities in the country are accepting international students and also those who are not able to travel to the UK for the same. UK admissions in Autumn 2020 will be conducted in a flexible manner.
UK’s world-class higher education institutes are offering high-quality online-learning and preparing learning materials for the upcoming terms. The Higher Education Funding Council for Wales, as the regulator for higher education in Wales, has similarly published a circular which reaffirms its expectations that providers will continue to meet their obligations for quality and standards. This should provide you with the assurance that the quality of a UK qualification will continue to be internationally valuable whether delivered face-to-face or online or in blended form. A recent survey of UK Universities found that 97% of universities surveyed are planning to provide some form of in-person teaching (in small groups) at the start of term, with 87% stating they will offer in-person social opportunities.
Focus on Health and Safety of Indian Students
All UK universities are abiding by the latest scientific advice and guidelines in accordance with COVID-19 outbreak. In order to protect international students from the virus, their arrivals shall include their contact and accommodation details and they should self-isolate for fourteen days. The measures taken by the UK government are reviewed and updated as and when required to remain the most effective. The same are consistent with the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines.
Students must wear a mask in public transport and other public spaces across the country.
