GMAT 2022 results are announced by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), which is also the conducting body of the entrance exam. The results for GMAT 2022 will be available online. Test takers can view their official GMAT scores by logging in with their registered email ID and password. The result can be viewed 20 days from the date of their GMAT exam. The total score and the percentile secured by the candidate along with their details will be mentioned on the scorecard of GMAT.

One of the first steps canddiates need to take once they receive their GMAT 2022 scorecards is to check their respective details. Any discrepancies seen in the scorecards must be reported to the concerned authorities, as these scorecards are sent to the universities and colleges you wish to apply. Among other details, candidates must ensure that the score they secured in GMAT satisfy the GMAT cut-off marks defined by their desired institutions before sending their scorecards.

The scorecard of GMAT is considered for admission by various management universities/institutions in India as well as abroad. The scorecard of the GMAT displays the scores of the candidates scored in each section of the exam. The conducting authority releases the GMAT score report for the candidates within twenty days from the written exam and the authority sends an E-mail regarding the same.

How are GMAT Sections Scored?

Here is how the different sections of the GMAT Exam are scored:

Analytical Writing Assessment

  • Scores in this section are reported in intervals of 0.5.

  • Essays in the AWA section are scored by professional essay raters and a machine algorithm. 

Integrated Reasoning

  • Scores in this section are reported in intervals of 1.

  • Integrated Reasoning is scored based on the number of correct answers. For questions with multiple parts, one must answer all parts correctly to receive credit.       

  • No partial credit is given.       

Quantitative and Verbal Reasoning

  • Scores in these sections are reported in intervals of 1.

  • The standard error of measurement is 3 points.

  • They are item-level adaptive and based on the number of questions answered, whether the answers are correct and the difficulty and other parameters of the questions answered.

  • A higher score will be awarded if one answers a higher number of questions, answers more of them correctly and qualifies for questions of a higher difficulty level.   

  • Scores are on a fixed scale.

Total

  • Scores in these sections are reported in intervals of 10.

  • The standard error of measurement is 30-40 points.

  • Total Scores on the GMAT are based on one’a performance before the sections of quantitative and verbal reasoning are scored.

  • The raw calculation is then converted into a number in the total score range.

What GMAT Percentile Ranking Means?

  • GMAT Scores also includes a percentile ranking which refers to the percent of candidates that you scored higher than. For instance, a ranking of 75% would mean that 25% of the total candidates performed as well or better than you. 

  • Your percentile ranking may change as rankings are recalculated every summer using data from the past three years.

How to Get GMAT Score Reports?

GMAT score reports can be divided into unofficial score reports, score reports received within three weeks after test date or the official score report, and an enhanced score report. Here is how you can access your GMAT Score reports:

Unofficial Score Report

  • Immediately after completing the exam, four of the five scores: the Verbal, Quantitative, Integrated Reasoning, and Total Scores (based on the Quantitative and Verbal sections) will be shown. 

  • Two minutes will be given to accept or cancel them. In case you do not make a decision, the scores will automatically be cancelled.

  • If you accept the score at the centre, you will get a printout of the same which will include your Verbal, Quantitative, Integrated Reasoning, and Total Scores. This will help you decide whether you want to retake the exam or not.

Score Reports Received Within Three Weeks After Test Date/GMAT Official Score Report

  • GMAC will send a notification via email that your official scores are ready. It will include instructions to access the report.

  • The Official Score Report will have scores of the  Analytical Writing Assessment section along with your unofficial score report, GMAT percentile rankings, your personal information and past GMAT scores. 

  • During your registration, you would be required to select up to five schools to send your official GMAT score reports to. You may select additional schools by paying an additional fee. 

  • Your Official Score Reports will include copies of your essays and your digital photograph, which will be issued to you after making a request.

  • You will be allowed to cancel your scores on test day or within 72 hours of your scheduled exam time, for a fee.

Enhanced GMAT Score Report

Cancelling GMAT Scores

After completing the exam, test-takers can choose to cancel or accept their score. In case, one cancels GMAT scores, these are the points they should be mindful of:

  • Scores will not be sent to any of the intended schools.

  • No printed copy of their unofficial GMAT scores will be provided at the test centre.

  • The candidate would not be able to access their unofficial score report.

  • Only after 16 days from the test date can you retake the GMAT exam.

Reinstating GMAT Scores After Cancelling Them

  • Students can reinstate their GMAT scores after cancelling them for a fee. The same can be done by logging into their mba.com account.

  • Cancelled scores can be reinstated up to four years and 11 months from the exam date.

  • If a GMAT score is reinstated, the score report will be sent to the initial list of b-schools selected on test day. The same cannot be modified although one may be able to view it.

  • Additional Score Reports can be purchased to send the reinstated scores to other schools. 

Points to Remember About GMAT Scores

  • GMAT results can be viewed by the candidates online. Candidates aspiring to do MBA course can give GMAT only five times in a year.

  • After taking the entrance exam, candidates can view their official scores 21 days after the exam.

  • If any candidate is unsatisfied with his/her marks, then he/she can apply again for GMAT.

  • GMAC will send you a notice by email that your official scores are available. The email will include instructions for online access to your scores.

  • Candidates can also receive the result through post. For this, they will have to specify their choice of receiving the result at the time of the registration process.

  • GMAT scores are valid up to five years from the date of examination.

Post-GMAT 2022

There are three small activities that have to be done after the declaration of the GMAT 2022 result. These three steps are known as post GMAT 2022 which all the applicants will have to follow:

Pick the GMAT Unofficial Score

If the candidates accept the GMAT score then they can collect the printed copy of the score from the front desk from where the candidate checked in for the examination. 

Cancellation of Score

If the candidate accepts the GMAT 2022 score at the test centre then the candidates have the option to cancel the accepted score through online with 72 hours from the examination being held. Candidates will be able to cancel the score by logging into the official site. But this cancellation of the score will be charged by the exam conducting body and it will take up to 24 hours to reflect the answer on the candidate’s online account. 

Get the Old Score

Candidates will also get an opportunity to restore the older score with the payment of some fee. This can be done by logging into the official site.
