The All India Football Federation (AIFF) had tied up with Pearson to launch BTEC International Level 3 qualifications recognised internationally to provide sports enthusiasts with pathways to careers in the field of sports.
These international sports industry qualifications, approved by the industry, government and higher education institutions, are aimed at offering world-class opportunities in sports education with real-life content from Liverpool Football Club across a variety of pathways including Sports Business & Management, Sport, Sports Facilities, operations and management and fitness.
The exclusive collaboration will transform every applicant's learning experience who wishes to pursue a career in the sports industry at the international level.
The qualifications will also assist in a student’s progression to higher studies or employment, which would further be augmented by joint qualifications of AIFF certified Graduate, Diplomas and Postgraduate university degrees. The same will be available for aspirants from the age of 16 years.
President of AIFF, Praful Patel said that this is the first time that high school, college and postgraduate students will get the opportunity to learn from leaders in international sports and get internationally-recognised vocational training across a range of courses including sports journalism, sports performance analysis, sports business, sports psychology, sports nutrition, sports business, operations, sports facilities, sports development, and many others. This will provide India with internationally certified and well-trained sports professionals.
General Secretary of AIFF, Kushal Das added that this partnership will open doors for young learners to a wide spectrum of exciting careers in sports. The Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) programmes, apart from providing them with the latest industry skills, knowledge and behaviours, will also ensure that learners apply their knowledge to real-life sports contexts.
Senior Vice President, BTEC and Apprenticeships at Pearson, Cindy Rampersaud, commented that this partnership is rather delightful, as it offers exciting and rewarding opportunities in the field of sports to young learners in India. The qualifications will be designed with the combination of an application of transferable skills and technical knowledge, letting learners find opportunities not only in sports but also in other sectors including media, retail, health and well-being, STEM, hospitality, among others.
