Ben-Gurion Invites Students to Study 2-Year MSc in Biomedical Engineering

Ben-Gurion Invites Students to Study 2-Year MSc in Biomedical Engineering

Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU), a public research university in Israel, has now opened applications for its MSc in Biomedical Engineering programme for the Spring 2023 intake.

The purpose of this programme is to produce engineers who can lead and conduct research and development projects in both the academic research environment and the fast-paced high-tech industry, as well as design and maintain medical equipment.

MSc in Biomedical Engineering

Recent rapid advancements in the natural sciences and engineering have made it possible to employ engineering methods to provide answers to a number of challenges that have plagued humanity since its inception.

Supercomputers that are incredibly quick and powerful, the geometry of the human genome, brain-connected interfaces, molecular-sized implants powered by nanotechnology, and instant internet-based communication technologies are just a few of the countless new technologies that are rapidly becoming prevalent.

Students who enrol in classes at both faculties develop both broad foundational knowledge and highly specialised abilities in the fields that are necessary for a biomedical engineer. Here are the course details:

Programme Delivery:

  • MSc in Biomedical Engineering is a two-year (four semesters) thesis (research) track programme that is completely taught in the English language.

  • Faculty of Health Sciences and Engineering at BGU trains biomedical engineers. 

  • Students enrolled in MSc in Biomedical Engineering programmes receive extensive medical and engineering training.

Eligibility Criteria

The following are the eligibility criteria for admission to Ben-Gurion University’s MSc in Biomedical Engineering programme for the Spring 2023 intake:

  • The applicant must have a BSc degree with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 80/100 in biomedical engineering or a closely related field as per the Israeli grading system.

  • Students must contact a potential advisor from the faculty of the Biomedical Engineering department prior to submitting an application.

  • They must have an overall TOEFL score of 85 out of 120 or an equivalent score on an internationally recognised English language proficiency test like the IELTS exam, PTE Academic, etc. 

  • Although the GRE exam is not mandatory, it is recommended that students should opt for one.

Note: The English proficiency score requirement is eliminated for those who have completed their BSc in an English-taught programme.

Documents Required

The following documents must be submitted by the applicant and are mandatory for preliminary consideration:

  • A copy of undergraduate diploma.

  • A copy of Academic Transcripts.

  • A copy of the applicant's CV or resume.

  • A copy of English language proficiency test reports.

  • Two Letters of Recommendation (LOR) from faculty members who are acquainted with the applicant's capabilities and academic achievements. 

  • A copy of the first page of the passport.

  • The applicant's ranking in the department's graduating class (if required).

Scholarships

A scholarship covers tuition fees and living expenses for students with outstanding academic records. In some cases, a faculty member may be able to provide supplementary financial assistance through their research grants, based on a student’s individual needs.
