Australia, which used to be one of the top study abroad destinations among Indian students, had to adopt extreme measures to curb the spread of COVID-19, including the strict border restrictions for international travellers.

However, the federal government of Australia and its state governments have started making efforts in welcoming international students back. In the most recent announcement, NDTV Education reported a discussion between Indias Union Minister for Education and Skill Development, Dharmendra Pradhan and Australias Minister for Education, Alan Tudge.

During a virtual meeting between the two education ministers, a mutual agreement was reached on growing the Australia-India higher education partnership. As per media reports, both India and Australia have agreed to strengthen the span of higher education focusing on two-way student mobility, applied research, teacher exchanges and several other mutual priority areas.
