Australian universities are offering tuition fee discounts to international students who are taking complete online classes for 2021 academic term due to travel restrictions. Know the list of universities offering discount, rate of discount and scholarships options here:

With manyinternational students stuck in their home country due to COVID-19 restrictions that are expected to stay for the remainder of 2021, a few Australian Universities have offered tuition fee rebates. The tuition fee rebates are a step towards reducing the financial burden of the students who are stuck outside of Australia and are not able to access course materials, etc.

The University of Wollongong (UOW) is offering an unlimited number of grants or bursaries which will reduce the tuition fees forinternational students currently studying online by 20%.

The University of Queensland is also offering a 12.5% tuition fee rebate for international coursework students who have been affected by Covid-19 restrictions and are paying full international fees. Over 50% of all the fresh and continuing international students studying from their home country since the second half of 2020 have been autonomically considered for the rebate.

Overseas students enrolled in undergraduate, postgraduate or Pre-enrolment English Program (PEP) atThe University of Adelaide may also be eligiblefor a rebate of 20% that they will be automatically considered for at the time of acceptance.

Some other universities in Australia such as Griffith University are also offering scholarships to providefinancial assistance covering up to 15% of tuition fees for students from outside of Australia.

Meanwhile, the Australian National University (ANU) has turned its only overseas institutionin China into a study hub for international students who are not able to enter Australia.Charles Sturt University is also offering a scholarship of 30% to international students who have faced major studydue to travel restrictions.

With approved vaccines unable to provide a clear picture as to whether they can prevent virus transmission or if they will work against new strains of Coronavirus, the remainder of the year in Australiais expected to have travel restrictions.

The global pandemic has severely affected the tertiary sector in the country with2020 seeing many staff and job cuts, which isunlikely to reverse this year.

According to the figures revealed byUniversities Australia (UA) earlier in February 2021, the higher education/university sector witnessed a loss of $1.8 billionlast year along withat least 17,300 jobs. In January this year, close to 164,000 students or nearly 30% of Australian student visa holders were overseas, according to Australia's Department ofEducation, Skills, and Employment.

Phil Honeywood, CEO of the International Education Association of Australia(IEAA) said someuniversities in Australia had invested a lot of money to train tutors and lecturers and get them acquainted with remote learning.
