The health officials of Boston Universityhave announced that all COVID-19 vaccines will satisfy the BU requirement for the Fall term admissions 2021. It is good news for international students who were earlier in a dilemma that the type of vaccine received in their home countries might not be accepted by BU.

The news was sent in a letter by Jean Morrison- the provost and chief academic officer (BU) to Judy Platt- the Student Health Services Director (BU) stating the acceptance of all vaccines for the enrollment of international students including the vaccines without Food and Drug Administration authorization or approval provided outside the United States. The letter also states that in case the commonwealth of Massachusetts imposes its own requirement for vaccination for residents, BU would abide by the restrictions that are set.

  • Undergraduate international students who are residing in on-campus housing of BU including continuing students and graduating students in May 2021 can stay at the university for 30 days without any cost to complete their second dose of vaccination of Moderna or Pfizer, in case it is not done.

  • BU advises both domestic and international students who are planning to stay in the United States after May to use the CDC vax finder to schedule their second shot of vaccination.

  • UKBU is also planning to reopen its vaccine clinics in August to offer on-campus vaccination to its students, faculty and staff. In case BU is not able to provide on-campus vaccination facilities, it will help students to find out nearby public vaccination sites for the ease of students.
