In a bid to support all international students starting their higher studies at the university, Cranfield University will be offering a bursary to cover the costs of COVID testing, quarantine and meals for the entire duration of the quarantine period.
As per the notice released by the higher education institution, Cranfield University has offered to cover the cost of any and all COVID testing on arrival in the UK, as per the guidelines detailed by the UK Government. Additionally, the university will also be offering accommodation to the international students on campus as well as all the meals, free of charge, for the entire duration that the students will be asked to quarantine upon arrival. The University also stated that it will cover the costs of stay in a Government quarantine hotel if the student is directed to do so.
Cranfield’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Simon Pollard commented that Cranfield aims to ease the challenges faced by students who have chosen to continue their studies during such an unprecedented time.
Simon added that Cranfield has been a pioneer in ensuring the campus is COVID-secure, since the start of the pandemic. Maintaining the well-being and health of its students, staff and community has been one of its goals.
Sources reveal that the number of cases witnessed at Cranfield continues to be at a substantially lower level than the average UK Higher Education Sector.
Pollard also added that the bursary has been made available to all international students who will be travelling to the UK from countries abroad. Overseas students enrolled in a full-time taught or research programme and scheduled to commence their courses between 1st June and 31st October 2021 at Cranfield are eligible for the funds.
