The federal state of Brandenburg has given official ‘University of Applied Sciences’ status to GISMA Business School, Germany, letting it offer bachelors and masters degrees at its campuses in the region.
The school has also been permitted to launch Hochschule, its tertiary education which is aimed at teaching practice-oriented skills in the areas of business, digital transformation, agribusiness and technology.
Stefan Stein, the newly-appointed president of GISMA Business School said that this is a great achievement for the school.
He added that for more than 20 years, GISMA’s international interconnectedness and industry roots have made it a unique place for further education. Becoming a University of Applied Sciences would be a step towards educating and preparing students from across the world at a higher academic level for the global and regional business community.
He explained that a digital revolution is ready to evolve faster, which will not only affect traditional industries but also the universities. This will further contribute to a new revolution in education, offering a multidisciplinary approach to reflect qualification changes and demand of competencies of the outside world.
The locations of Hochschule in Potsdam and Berlin will offer seven programmes in English medium instruction recognised by the state along with a Global MBA, and bachelors and masters in an array of subjects including AI and DIgital Business, International Business Management and Data Science, and more.
The campus of University of Applied Sciences in Potsdam is ready to open in Summer 2021, close to Innovation Centre of SAP, one of the largest enterprise software companies in the world.
The Berlin location is set to welcome both international and domestic students. Both the Berlin and Potsdam locations will add immense value to the learning experience of students, mentioned Stein.
He further stated that Berlin is one of the most innovative business hubs in the world and students in Potsdam will benefit from the proximity with its network of industry leaders and the SAP Centre.
