According to a new report published by Just Dial, IELTS coaching is among the most searched education services in India. It seems many Indians are looking to move abroad for academic and professional opportunities.
The report claims that the number of searches for IELTS coaching grew by over 83% across India's 1,000 towns and cities. The report also states that the number of searches for computer training institutes and spoken English classes has grown significantly. The demand for tutorials and coaching for IELTS in various parts of Punjab, including Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, and Chandigarh, was 30% higher than that of Delhi.
The spike in the demand for IELTS coaching is also related to the government's data, which suggests that after the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, the number of students looking for admission to foreign universities went back to pre-Coviddata.

The rise in the number of students taking the test is also attributed to the fact that they are choosing to take it instead of the TOEFL or the other tests offered by the US. This is also because many of them are looking to study in countries that have a better acceptance rate for the test.
The introduction of the Computer-based format of the test has also led to faster results, which has led to more students taking the test. Although the test still remains the same, students were allowed to take it from their homes even during the height of the pandemic. This was also done in order to prevent students from getting stranded at testing centres due to Covid prevention protocols.

The four-part IELTS test is also available in both computer-delivered and paper-based formats. Students have tried both the paper-based and computer-based versions and found the latter easier to use. It has helped them get into the US and Canada. While studying for their MSc in International Business, they took the IELTS test. It was very challenging but with practice, they were able to improve their IELTS scores.
