Indian students pursuing medical degrees in Chinese universities may not be able to practice medicine in India. The Indian Embassy in Beijing has issued a detailed advisory for students who are planning to study MBBS in China.
The embassy stated officially that any student who joins for clinical medicine course in China after November 2021 and fails to get a license to practice in China as a doctor will be considered ineligible to sit for Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE).

The relevant authorities and medical colleges in China have been requested by the Embassy to ensure that all MBBS students are educated, trained and facilitated so that they can fulfil National Medical Commission’s (NMC) requirements.
The query of whether Indian students can work or not in Chinese hospitals in positions such as “assistant doctors” even if they fail to get a medical practice license in China was also answered by the Embassy. The question came from students who are burdened with loans and want to repay them soon.
The Indian Embassy assured to post the information they receive from Chinese authorities about such options on their social media handles.
The press release also stated that the Embassy keeps receiving questions from aspirants and their parents regarding practising medicine in India after studying in China.
Clause 4(b) of NMC states that foreign medical students have to be registered with the licensing authority of the country where they are studying medicine. It should also be at par with the license given to the citizen of that particular country.

All prospective students have been advised to go through the advisories and relevant regulations of NMC before exploring options to study MBBS in China. The release also asked students and parents to confirm all terms of admission references from Chinese universities before accepting admissions.
