Ramaiah Group of Institutions, Bengaluru in collaboration with St. Georges University, Grenada have started inviting applications for the September 2021 intake. Interested applicants in India will be able to apply for an educational pathway program to practice medicine in India, the UK or the US.
The pathway program, introduced in 2020, is aimed at giving 10+2 graduates the opportunity to get a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree and experience global healthcare across countries including India, UK, Grenada, and the US.
The first year of the program will focus on traditional basic science areas at Ramaiah. The next two years will be based on lab experience, small group discussions on underpinning the practice of clinical medicine and the importance of early integration of patient presentations in basic science. The last years will be aimed at clinical medicine, training at clinical centres at SGU and affiliated hospitals in the US or UK.

The program will act as a great opportunity for students who wish to become physicians and enter an international medical career. While the first year at Ramaiah will give students the scope to work in a familiar environment, the next four years will let them network with like-minded people abroad.
Both SGU and Ramaiah have medical schools set up over 4 decades ago. While SGU is the largest global provider of licensed physicians in the United States, Ramaiah stands among the top 20 medical colleges in India.

In 2020, SGU places 1,124 students in the US and Canada and over 18,000 of its international MD graduates work across the world.
Dr Richard Olds, President of SGU, said that the pathway has been designed to help medical aspirants in India who want to study abroad and further facilitate the process. Given todays competition in the field and inevitable stress that often affects the performance of students, the pathway will support students and help them fulfil their dream of practicing medicine in the US or UK at a lower cost and in less time.
