A new scholarship programme has been launched by The Council for Higher Education, Israel for international students enrolled in PhD programmes. Those who are enrolled in one-year doctoral studies a ‘PhD sandwich program’ can avail this scholarship.
The initiative will allow students to further complete their doctoral research through unique academic experience and collaboration with leading scholars and scientists.
Students who will be selected for the scholarship will receive a scholarship amount worth 80,000 NIS per year which is equivalent to around INR 17 lakhs. In case, the scholar is in Israel for less than 1 year, the scholarship amount will be determined on the basis of the duration of the study in Israel.
However, the scholarship amount will not be awarded to students who will spend less than three months at one of the universities of Israel.

According to an official statement, the initiative has been taken by Israel to attract young talented PhD graduates who would take up research work in the country and contribute to the field of science, humanities and social sciences.
Who Can Apply for PhD Scholarship in Israel?
Any student who has enrolled in a Doctoral degree programme at an accredited institution of Israel and has completed 1-year doctoral studies cam apply or scholarship.
The current application for the scholarship is open for candidates will be arriving in Isreal for Spring term 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Candidates can apply for a scholarship and the university will send them a notification by February 15, 2021.
