Jabalpur Boy Wins US Crimson Access Opportunity Scholarship Worth Over INR 2.29 Cr

Seventeen-year-old Vaasu Chandra, who hails from Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur, has won the prestigious US Crimson Access Opportunity (CAO) scholarship worth over INR 2.29 crore. He is now planning to pursue a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science to create codes in Artificial Intelligence (AI).

A 17-year-old Indian student, who hails from Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur, has won the popular US Crimson Access Opportunity (CAO) scholarship worth over INR 2.29 crore.

After the big win, Vaasu Chandra is now all set to fly to Pennsylvania to studyBachelor of Technology in Computer Science to create codes in Artificial Intelligence (AI) at Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster.

In an interview, Vasu said that since childhood, Computer Science has captivated his fascination as "it is not limited by characters and alphabets, but is driven by human creativity."

The teenager, whose father is a Chief Engineer at theMadhya Pradesh Electricity Board and his mother, a homemaker, said that he was also inclined to try STEM-related projects along with social sciences, adding that he wants to spend his life exploring the codes extensively.

Vaasu had written several drafts of hisStatement of Purpose (SOP)and finalised the best one by fine-tuning it. He has also asked for expert advice and feedback on the same to make his application stand out.

The Jabalpur boy spent hours doing research by visiting the college's website to get more information and see whether it would be the right decision for him.

Before achieving this scholarship, Vaasu had participated in several prestigious summer programmes like Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) and Harvard Undergraduate Foreign Policy Initiative (HUFPI) which also helped him to write an impactful SOP. Apart from his academic excellence in both Mathematics and Science, he isalso a skilled Tennis player and has worked as a volunteer for the Indian Red Cross Society's community service.
