The Government of Quebec has invited foreign students pursuing vocational training at the university level to apply for its Merit Scholarship programme for 2021-22 academic year. Aimed at attracting meritorious international students for higher education in Quebec, Canada, the programme will also encourage the recruitment of students in a variety of programmes with good research and career prospects.
Heres everything you need to know about these scholarships.
For University Students
Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must be pursuing studies or research at a university in Quebec.

The applicant must be studying a doctoral, postdoctoral or short-term research/professional development programme.
Value:
-
Doctoral research scholarships: CAD 25,000 per year for up to three years that can be extended for up to 12 months which will provide a monthly allowance of CAD 1,000.

Postdoctoral scholarships: CAD 35,000 per year which cannot be renewed.

Short-term professional development or research scholarships: CAD 3,000 per month for up to four months.

For Technical Training Students at the College Level
Eligibility Criteria:

The applicant must pursue a full-time technical training programme at a public or private college located in the Quebec region outside the Greater Montreal area.

The training programme must lead to a Diploma of College Studies (DCS).

The college should be accredited for the purpose of funding.

The applicant must be a citizen of an espace francophone member country.
Value:

Duly-filled application form should be submitted to the Federation des cegeps (for public colleges).

Duly-filled application form should be submitted to the Association des colleges prives du Quebec (for private colleges).

For Vocational Training Students
Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must be pursuing a full-time vocational training programme leading to either Attestation of Vocational Specialisation or Diploma of Vocational Studies.

Applicants enrolled in a programme offering good job prospects will be given priority.

Those from China, India, Japan, Brazil, Mexico or from developing countries that are part of Francophonie will be given preference.

The applicant must not be from France.

An additional CAD 1,400 for every extra 100 hours to up to CAD 26,000 for 1800-hour programmes
