In a bid to assist international students, Penn State has announced that international students with extenuating circumstances will be able to arrive on campus from Jan 4, 2021. Students can submit their requests online and a select few will be allowed to enter the campus.

With universities and institutions across the world working with the state and federal governments of their respective countries, Penn State has also decided to take initiative to welcome international students, with extenuating situations, back on campus. As per the Penn State University’s Global Programmes Office, international students will be allowed to move into the on-campus housing facilities from January 4, 2021.

The current provisions outlined by the university require the international students to have themselves tested prior to arriving on campus. Students without a negative COVID test will be put in isolation on the campus itself. If students arrive before February 15, 2021, they will then be placed in a temporary room. The requirement for a negative COVID test will also be applicable to students who have been residing off-campus.

The University further states that the provision of a room for students arriving before 15th Feb will be considered based on different cases. Students who are planning to arrive on campus must submit their requests via eLiving. The University will also levy additional charges for acquiring rooms outside of the semester period.

The University is encouraging students to refrain themselves from returning to campus prior to February 15, 2021, or any other off-campus locations or group dwellings.

However, the Penn State’s Directorate of International Student and Scholar Advising is currently unaware of the exact dates or the process of accessing on-campus housing. Nonetheless, the Directorate is dedicated to acquiring the information and providing the same to the students.
