One of the major reasons for studying overseas is to find a career and settle abroad. The process for the employment of foreign nationals can be tasking and quite difficult in many countries. However, the Russian Federation’s State Duma has recently passed a bill to facilitate an easier employment procedure for international citizens. As per the amendments, overseas citizens studying at one of the Russian universities or professional training colleges will be eligible for a job in Russia, without the need for a special permit.
Keeping the future of international students in mind, the Bill will ensure that the overseas students will be able to manage their work and study life in a better manner. Students will also be able to participate in the yearly employment programmes and fairs held at UTMN, under the new amendments. The changes are expected to double the number of international students studying at the different Russian educational institutions.
As per the previous regulations, international students enrolled in full-time programmes at Russian Universities were only allowed to work during their vacations and were restricted to the jobs at the university they were enrolled in. Students were not allowed to work in part-time jobs in Russia, along with their studies. Now, with the amendments, overseas students will be able to apply for a job without the need for applying for a special permit.
However, it should be noted that the amendments will not interfere with the Russian Migration legislation, instead, it just provides international students with an opportunity to work in the country. Those who choose to study in Russia are required to possess a migration registration. International students who cease to be one will lose their right to stay in the Russian Federation and subsequently work in the country as well.
