South Australia Skilled Migration Programme 2021-2022: All You Need to Know

South Australia has come up with its Skilled Migration Programme for 2021-2022 in categories such as Talent and Innovators Programme, International Graduate of South Australia, and Currently Living and Working in South Australia. It is quintessential to mention that these are only available to skilled migrants who are currently residing in the Australian state.

South Australia Skilled Migration Programme 2021-2022: All You Need to Know

In the latest update, South Australia has opened its Skills Migration programme for 2021-2022. They have started receiving applications for 190 and 491 nominations. For this financial year, they have been allocated over 2,500 places, which is 600 more as compared to last year. This also suggests that there are more chances to get a nomination from the South Australia Government.

The skilled migrants should meet the state government and Department of Home Affairs’ rules to remain eligible to apply for state nomination in these categories:

Talent and Innovators Programme

This programme allows the state to nominate under one of the following streams - Employment, outer regional South Australia workforce, start-up and small business, high performing graduate, and independent talent streams.

International Graduate of South Australia

To be eligible for this pathway, the graduate's South Australian course must be CRICOS registered. A minimum of 50% of qualifications must be completed in SA. The international graduate must have resided in South Australia for at least a year. They should also meet the work experience requirements.

Currently Living and Working in South Australia

Under this, there are waivers available for people and the eligibility depends on how long the person has been residing or working in South Australia, his or her nominated occupation, etc.

Offshore Interest Registration

Now offshore applicants can apply for trade and health occupations. They just have to meet the requirements as per their occupation and then can submit a Registration of Interest application.

After receiving the state nomination, they can then apply for Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa Subclass 491 (five-year visa) and the Skilled Nominated Visa Subclass 190.

These applicants also need to submit a letter of intent demonstrating skills as per the specific trades and health-related occupations, including English proficiency.

List of Occupations Available for Applicants from Other Countries

Here are some of the occupations that are available for offshore applicants:

  • Maintenance planner

  • Fitter (general)

  • Fitter and turner

  • Roof tiler

  • Metal machinist

  • Floor finisher

  • Carpet and joiner

  • Painting trade worker

  • Glazier, wall, and floor tiler

Offshore applicants are expected to have at least 2-5 years of work experience if they are closely related to the occupation.

If international graduates from South Australia meet the state’s study requirements, then they can also get bonus points for either of the two visa subclasses - RoI eligibility (For the Talent and Innovators programme) and as per work experience in the state
