The Tajikistan government is looking to establish a partnership between Tajikistan universities and UK institutions to attract more western educational and science institutions to teach in Tajikistan. It is a massive step by the government to mark a difference in the higher education of the country.

The government of Tajikistan is looking forward to establishing a partnership between Tajikistan universities and UK institutions with an aim to attract more western educational and science institutions to teach in Tajikistan.  In November, the Tajikistan- UK Education and Cooperation Discussion webinar was held which was attended by the speakers from UK universities and Tajikistan’s diplomatic mission.

Masud Khalifazoda, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary at the Tajikistan Embassy to the UK has confirmed that he has been visiting the universities of UK to establish cooperation and discuss the educational policies of Tajikistan government, invite then to establish partnership and exchange and training programmes and also to persuade them to open branches of the UK universities in Tajikistan.\

He also confirmed that visits of delegates from the University of Portsmouth to Khalifazoda was cancelled earlier this year due to the pandemic. The meeting was supposed to be held between the minister of education and leading universities as well as the private and the business sectors.

Chris Chang, pro-vice-chancellor at the University of Portsmouth told the delegates that their part of the strategy is to establish global reach across the world particularly Central Asia as it has little engagement with this part of the world due to historical and cultural reasons. He added that they are now confident and looking forward to partnering with Central Asian countries particularly Tajikistan for better understanding and opportunities.

According to Khalifazoda, there is a huge demand for English training courses and the   Tajikistan Government is ready to provide the supporting infrastructure to establish Training courses for English.
