Although the completion of EPP is optional, the university believes that it will help students kickstart their studies.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Essex, Prof Loma Fox O’Mahony, following a positive response from students and teachers alike, said that they have developed the EPP platform to provide help to incoming students. The university is determined to make sure that the cohort of students feels confident to face the challenges posed by the university.

He also stressed the fact that these new students had to face several challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic and therefore they wish to do everything to help them be successful. 500 pupils have already enrolled in the EPP programme so they expect the programme to be more impactful this year.

In  2021, more than 1,750 students participated in the programme, which involved 12 live zoom workshop sessions along with an online course.

This year, the university expects more participation in the EPP which has been further developed following feedback from students.

This will be integrated with other student preparation programmes and activities during the University of Essex’s welcome week.
