UK’s University of Southampton has announced the launch of a new pathways partnership with the Cambridge Education Group which will act as a significant opportunity for international students to access a renowned university.
The International Pathway Centre will welcome its first cohort of foreign students in September 2021.
The ONCAMPUS pathways division of the Cambridge Education Group already has partnerships with 27 universities in the UK, US, and Europe.
This is the second announcement made by CEG in the past four months, following its launch of a new programme at Aston University in Birmingham from September 2021.
Brendan Webb, co-CEO of Cambridge Education Group said that attending a Russell Group university will get international students the access to some of the world’s most innovative research projects, business and leading academics.
Alex Neil, Vice-president at the University of Southampton added that the partnership will enhance the global reach of the university and attract “outstanding” international students.
Students participating in the pathway programmes will engage in a rigorous academic curriculum that focuses on improving their English language proficiency and ensuring a great student experience at the university and the city of Southampton, he continued.
Although Southampton is the first Russell Group member that CEG has collaborated with to introduce a Pathway centre, its ONCAMPUS London location also offers a pathway to another Rusell Group member, i.e. Queen Mary University of London.
Other providers such as Kaplan offer pathways to Russell Group members at the universities of Bristol, Liverpool, Birmingham, York and Nottingham. In addition to that, StudyGroup offers programmes at Sheffield, Cardiff and Durham, while INTO has collaborated with the universities of Exeter and New Castle and NCUK with the University of Manchester.
The new partners mentioned that this new International Pathway Centre at Southampton will offer an “outstanding start” to international students who wish to transition to different programmes at the university.
