Starting a new sports-oriented partnership, the University of Stirling in Scotland and Chinas prestigious Chengdu University have joined hands to offer new programmes.
Offering three sports-focused programmes, the Chengdu University - Stirling College was opened on September 6, which will be offering degrees in Sports Studies, Digital Media and Data Science. Upon graduation in four years, graduates will receive two degrees, one from each university.
Gerry McCormac, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Stirling commented that the university has been aspiring to form global partnerships with like-minded institutions from around the world.
In his statements, McCormac highlighted the universitys previous partnerships with other Chinese universities and higher education institutions. Among them, the University of Stirling also boasts of a partnership with the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Hebei Normal University.

He further added that nearly 900 students from China have pursued higher education from Stirling, while the 100,00 alumni of the university include over 4,500 Chinese graduates as well.
Commenting on the partnership, McCormac stated that both Stirling and Chengdu share values of excellence and innovation, where they believe in building a better world through international education and collaboration. He further believes that the combined strengths and partnership will help them achieve great things for all, students, staff, communities and societies around the world.

As Chengdu University is a hosting partner for the 31st FISU (International University Sports Federation) World University Games 2022 and Stirling being the University of Sporting Excellence in Scotland, the three programmes under the partnership are sports-oriented.
