US Education Sector Celebrates International Students During IEW

The US education sector during the International Education Week held from November 15 to 19, 2021, celebrated the international education sector and international students. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy R. Sherman put emphasis on international education and how it has become “more important than ever”.

During the International Education Week, conducted from November 15 to 19, 2021, the US education sector celebrated the international education sector and international students. 

Anthony Blinken, Secretary of State, said that the US recognises the contribution of international education and how it plays an important role in building and sustaining a more “democratic, secure and prosperous world”.

Deputy Secretary of State Wendy R. Sherman put emphasis on international education and how it has become “more important than ever”.

She added that when students and scholars come to the US for higher education and when US students study abroad, the two countries involved strengthen their ties and also between their current and future leaders in academia, business and public service.

In addition, findings of the 2021 Open Doors Report show that the US continues to be the top destination for international students from across the world.

Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona mentioned that as the United States rebuilds and recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic, it has been realised that communities and countries have become more interconnected than before. 

Institutions across the country put on special programs to feature their international student community. 

Universities like the Brigham Youg University, Hawaii celebrated IEW 2021 virtually, letting F-1 and J-1 students participate in their programs including CPT, OPT and AT on the continental US could be part of it. 

New York University used its global network based in Florence, Shanghai and New York for a session on global perspectives on identity and race.

Rice University held one of its beloved IEW traditions, which is the Mini World Cup Soccer Tournament, where food was also on show. 

The US Consulate Kolkata conducted a Leadership & Innovation workshop focused on ‘21st-century skill development'.

The US Embassy in Tajikistan, Dushanbe and the Sri Lanka Fullbright Commission were only two of the many bodies to promote Fulbright in the US.
