Western Australia has designed a package worth AUD 41.2 million to develop a pipeline of future onshore students and involve international education agents again. The package also provides financial support measures.
Western Australia has allocated funds toward two new scholarship programs. AUD 4 million for the Premiers WA Certificate of Education Bursary and AUD 2 million for the Premiers University Scholarships have been allotted. An AUD 10 million incentive package will target to increase the awareness regarding the international education sector through the agents who help to enrol students in the institutes of Western Australia.

An AUD 1 million fund has been created to familiarize offshore stakeholders with Australia.WA International Education minister, David Templeman, testified the keenness of the McGowan government to support the international education sector by reconnecting with international partners. The packages have been announced after extensive discussions with the international education sector.
Other initiatives of Western Australia include AUD 6.8 million to continue the ELICOS Bursary and the International Student Accommodation Subsidy for international students to study in Australia. AUD 3 million has been allocated for the Western Australia Technical and Vocational Education and Training Consortium which will support the creation of offshore opportunities.
AUD 8 million has been allocated for four years to permit both onshore and offshore staffing to implement the new enterprises and AUD 1.5 million has been assigned to expand the marketing campaign for the global international education.
The government has further allocated AUD 400,000 to encourage international students studying in Western Australian schools to further their higher education in the state.
Templeman has attributed the initiatives of the government to strengthen the economy of Western Australia in long term. Templeman along with deputy premier Roger Cook will come on a state mission to India in July. The mission is designed to unlock business opportunities of Western Australia in the Indian market, increase connections between India and Western Australia and promote the state as a place for students, tourists and businesses.

The Covid-19 pandemic disarranged the student pipeline. This led to the realisation of the diversifying impact of international education on the economy of Western Australia and its role in connecting Western Australia to the world.

The Western Australia government has allocated over AUD 16 million to support the state's international education sector. The funding was allocated following the delayed reopening of its borders due to the Omicron variant.
The program will receive an AUD 8 million boost to support international students who have to pay for quarantine-related costs and the AUD 6 million Industry Support Program aims to assist small and medium-sized education businesses affected by the closureof international borders.

Western Australia's universities will receive an additional AUD 500 to support international students affected by the temporary visa restrictions. The changes, which came into effect on February 5, 2022, have affected the state's international education sector.
An organisation based out of Australiahas been working with the state's police andgovernment to help students get through the uncertainty. According to some of Western Australia's education institutions, the decision to delay the border opening will result in further job losses and revenue losses. The company's team has been working around the clock to support the students. They've also provided them with free counselling services.

A spokesperson for the company noted that they arealso working with the Australian Hotels Association to provide special hotel deals for the affected students. The government's support package is part of a broader effort to support the travel and tourism sectors in Western Australia.
Emily Colyer-Long, the CEO of the organisation, noted that the company is working with the state government to ensure that the safety and welfare of the international students are prioritized. Due to the changes, the state's international education sector has been hit hard. This funding is part of an AUD 77 million Safe Transition Industry Support Package.
