Founded in 1930 as M. Gorky Donetsk Medical Institute, Donetsk National Medical University (DNMU) was renamed in 2015. As per the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education of Ukraine, the institute constantly ranked first among the medical universities of Ukraine from 2001 to 2018. At present, DNMU is considered one of the oldest and largest medical universities in the former USSR and Europe. The educational institute is recognised by top competent bodies such as IMED, NMC, WHO, MCC and ECFMG amongst others.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

Donetsk National Medical University has four campuses with various departments including Medicine, Pediatrics, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing and Premedical. The campuses of DNMU are Mariupol Campus, Kirovohrad Campus, Chernihiv Campus and Kramatorsk Campus. The varsity provides a range of academic and non-academic facilities that comprise 52 academic buildings, 57 computer classes and libraries, 4 health centres for preventive care and 16 hostels with reading halls and sports rooms. With 7 stadiums, sports and health service complexes, Donetsk National Medical University is one of the top MBBS universities in Ukraine.

It was the first medical university in Eastern Europe and Ukraine to start the faculties of Dentistry, Medicine and Pharmacy in the English language for international students in 1991.
