Royal Holloway, University of London was formally founded as Bedford College in 1849. In 1886 it was renamed as the Royal Holloway College. Later in 1900, the colleges became part of the University of London. Finally in 1985, they merged to form Royal Holloway. Today’s Royal Holloway, University of London is a public research university which is situated in Egham, Surrey, England. Royal Holloway, University of London is a renowned university in the World. The motto of the university is ‘Esse quam videri’ which means 'to be rather than to seem'. The Global QS World Ranking of the Royal Holloway, University of London 2021 is 308.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
Royal Holloway, University of London campus is often named as one of the most beautiful campuses in the World. All the facilities like teaching, study spaces, cafes, accommodation and sports facilities are provided within an area of 135 acres. Numerous courses under various disciplines are offered in under more than 21 Department and Schools of the university. Royal Holloway, University of London also provides a platform for world-class research facilities in various areas.
Accomplishments & Alumni
The research and teaching programmes offered by various departments of the Royal Holloway is internationally acclaimed. In 2019, students of Royal Holloway won the CyberCrime Cup, the first time a cybersecurity competition that was held live as a spectator eSport. The university also plays a lead role in the World’s First Centre to address the wildfire challenges at a global level. Royal Holloway, University of London has an alumni network comprising more than 90,000 people worldwide. There is a separate Alumni Relations Team that keeps the alumni updates about the university and its progressive works. The alumni also help the university grow through their contribution in whatever way possible.
Student Diversity & Visiting Companies
The university has more than 10,000 students who are enrolled in different courses. International students at Royal Holloway, University of London represent more than 2100 in strength. Students from across 130 countries live and study at the university in a harmony and peaceful ambience. From 2019, the students who join Royal Holloway, University of London have been given an option to take a Placement Year. The placement year can be spent in studying abroad, or working.
The next term at the Royal Holloway, University of London will commence from January 11, 2021. As per the Government guidelines, the university will continue with its blended learning approach. Some courses that require practical learning experience will be held face to face. Rest of the courses will be held in online mode.
On-campus services will continue to operate with restrictions and necessary guidelines.
The university will also continue offering its students and staff asymptomatic Covid-19 testing in partnership with the NHS and the Department for Health and Social Care from January 2021. The testing facilities will be available on campus and appointments must be booked via the government’s central testing system.
International students are eligible for International Future Leaders scholarship who have applied for undergraduate studies in any of the subjects at Royal Holloway, University of London. Every year, a total of 30 scholarships are offered to international students under this category.
The eligibility criteria to be considered for the scholarship are as follows:
Must be enrolled in undergraduate studies at the university.
Must have an international status.
Must demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities.
Applicants must fill in the application form to be considered for the scholarship before the deadline date. The application form can be filled via Online System Royal Holloway Direct.
The deadline for 2021 Term is 26 March 2021.
Value of Scholarship
£4,000 is reduced from the fees in their first year of study.
This scholarship is offered to new full-time students who are enrolled in Master’s degrees at the Royal Holloway. A total of 60 scholarships are available for international students under this category.
The eligibility criteria to receive Royal Holloway Principal's Masters Scholarship is as follows:
The student must receive an offer to study in a postgraduate taught programme at the Royal Holloway.
The Applications to the Royal Holloway Principal's Masters Scholarships are assessed on academic performance in the previous studies.
International students must have at least 2:1 undergraduate degree or equivalent. Preference is given to students who have a first-class degree.
Candidates must submit an application to receive the Royal Holloway Principal's Masters Scholarship. Applications can be submitted via online system Royal Holloway Direct. Students must add complete details and upload the required documents including the transcript.
The deadline for applications is 1 July 2021.
The scholarship covers £4,000 which is reduced from the tuition fee.
