University of Central Lancashire is a public university with a high research output that received its university status in 1992. The university, commonly known as UCLan, was founded in 1828 as an Institute for the Diffusion of Knowledge. UCLan is one of the largest universities in the UK. Situated in the city of Preston, Lancashire, England, UCLan is the 19th largest university in the UK on the account of student numbers. It is at the 89th position in The Complete University Guide rankings 2022 and has also been ranked 97th among top UK universities according to the 2022 rankings released by the Guardian.

UCLan offers over 400 undergraduate and more than 200 postgraduate programmes across 20 different academic schools. The main campus of UCLan is located at a walkable distance from Preston City Centre. Other campuses of the University of Central Lancashire are situated in Cumbria and Lancashire. The university also has an overseas campus in Cyprus that opened in 2012. This made UCLan the first British university in the country to open an overseas campus. Apart from UCLans focus on its students practical skills, it is also known highly for its research orientation. 16 subject areas offered at the University of Central Lancashire were termed as World Leading by the Research Excellence Framework in 2014.

Central Lancashire University believes that no student should be left out irrespective of the background they come from. To encourage students they offer scholarships that aid in their studies at the university.

Excellence Scholarship

The scholarship is offered to students who have got excellent grades in their previous courses before entering undergraduate or postgraduate taught courses at Central Lancashire University. The amount of the scholarship is GBP 3,000 and it is automatically deducted from the tuition fees every year of the course. There is no separate application form for the scholarship. 

International Bursary

An exclusive bursary of GBP 1,000 is reserved for international students. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students are eligible to apply for the bursary. It will be an automatic deduction from the tuition fee.

Merit Scholarship

Students who have achieved good grades in their previous studies before applying for undergraduate or postgraduate courses at the university are eligible for a scholarship of GBP 2000 per year of study. The amount will be reduced from the admission fees.

On-Campus Scholarship

The students who have applied from any OnCampus Study Centre entering the undergraduate or postgraduate course will get a fee reduction of GBP 2,000 every year.

Sports Scholarships

The student-athletes are motivated to fulfill their sports aspirations as well as receive top-quality education through this scholarship. The students who will be selected by the panel will be considered for the sports scholarship. There are three levels of the scholarship

  • Gold level- Up to GBP 5000 cash support and a support package worth GBP 2,000.

  • Silver level- Up to GBP 2000 cash support and a support package worth GBP 1,000.

  • Bronze level-Up to GBP 500 cash support and a support package worth GBP 750.
