Boise State University was founded in 1932 by Episcopal Church and at that time it was known as Boise Junior College. It got 4 years of college status in 1965. In the name of Boise State College, it got an entry in the State System of Higher Education in 1969 and its current name was adopted in 1974. The University is accredited by Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. It ranked 293 among National Universities and holds 42nd position in most innovative schools and it stands at 285th position in Top Performer on Social Mobility by the US News & World Report in its 2020 edition. Times Higher Education ranks the university among under 600 in the US Rankings 2020.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
Located in Idaho, University gives associates, bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral degrees, it offers more than 200 degrees in 190 fields of study. More than 100 graduate programs are offered here. The 285-acre university campus has a graduate college, College of Arts and Science, college of business and economics, college of health science, college of engineering, college of education and school of public services. The University also houses Velma Morrison Center for Performing Arts and Micron Center for Material Research among a host of other centers. The most popular majors are Engineering, Business, Computer Science, Biology, and Physics.
Accomplishments & Alumni
The U.S. News and World Report ranked Boise State University in the nation’s top 50 Most Innovative Schools. Also, it is recognized as Idaho’s largest graduate school. Notable alumni of Boise State University include Ryan Clady (footballer), and Butch Otter (former governor of Idaho).
