History, Affiliations and Rankings

California State University Poly Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) started with all male students of only 110 enrollments in 1938. Later in the year 1949, the famous breakfast cereal owner, W.K. Kellogg donated 813 acres of land. At present, it is amongst the 23 campuses of CSU with over 24,000 enrollments and 2500+ faculty strength including the staff. This university is in collaboration with some famous organizations like CSU Chancellor’s office, WASC & AASCU. Cal Poly Pomona holds its ranking at #14 in the Regional Universities West according to US News 2020.

Infrastructure, Campus and Courses  

The university is spread over 1,438 acres in the east of Los Angeles, California. This university has a huge library next with four floors and an area occupying over 103,926 sq.ft. Cal Poly Pomona is situated in the eastern part of Los Angeles and shares its borders with San Bernardino to the east. The campus offers 94 majors, 39 masters, and 13 degree programs. The most popular majors at Cal Poly Pomona include Business Administration and Management, Hospitality Administration/Management, Biology/Biological Sciences, Civil Engineering, General and Mechanical Engineering. The university has one of the top-ranked engineering programs of the state.

Achievements and Alumni

University follows a STEP program which has assisted students in many ways like Bronco Scholar, which aids for research and creative activities. The Chancellor's office also funded a big amount for undergraduate research, which is predominantly considered as an achievement on its own. Apart from this, there have been many commendable achievements in the physics and chemistry department too. More than 149,000 alumni have graduated from Cal Poly Pomona in the last few years. Some notable alumni who glorify this university’s name include, Hilda Solis, Jim Brulte, James Williamson, Anthony Amaral, Forest Whitaker, and Herschel Beahm. Chi Cheng and Kim Rhode are Cal Poly Pomona alumni and Olympic medalists. 

Student Diversity and Visiting companies 

The university has been regarded as the most diverse university in the west. It has a healthy number of international students with a mix of 1/3 of Hispanic, Latino, ¼ of Asian and several White and African too. Cal Poly Pomona is self-described as "Champions of Diversity" whereas College Prowler expresses that "Cal Poly is the blend of all the Cal States". In early 2018, Cal Poly Pomona had the third biggest enlistment level of Asian Americans in the whole Cal State System. Presently, Cal Poly Pomona has more than 1,000 International students on campus. Top organizations that the students work include Boeing, Kaiser Permanente, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, The Walt Disney Company and PwC to name a few.
