California Polytechnic State University, also known by many names such as California Polytechnic State University, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, San Luis Obispo or more commonly known as Cal Poly, was set up in 1901 in the city of San Luis Obispo, California. With a rich 110+ year experience, Cal Poly is a part of the 23 campuses California State University system, is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and is also affiliated to the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) & the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU).

PayScale ranked the university no.37 among 1800+ colleges & universities in their 'Return On Investment' list while Forbes ranks Cal Poly as no.115 and Times Higher Education ranking it no.193 among national universities. Cal Poly ranks no.3 (Civil Engineering), no.2 (Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering) and no.1 (Industrial Engineering) on their National Program Ranking list.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

With one of the largest campuses in the nation, Cal Poly has an impressive 9000+ acres to its name. The 3200 acre Swanton Pacific Ranch located on the outskirts of Davenport Town is also part of the University's campus and is used to carry out research and education opportunities in addition to forestry and livestock operations and an overall emphasis on sustainable management of agricultural practices with a mix of laboratory experiments.

The main campus is roughly 5000+ acres and houses the 6 colleges providing over 105 Degree Programs as well as 84 minor programs and 13 professional credential programs. These colleges are College of Science and Mathematics; College of Liberal Arts; College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences; College of Architecture and Environmental Design; the Orfalea College of Business & the College of Engineering.

Cal Poly is proud to be the second-largest university in the nation in terms of campus size. Due to a steady rise in the number of the student population, the region has also seen a massive jump in property prices within a year, with a whopping $1,60,000/- spike from $5,35,000/- in 2017-2018.
