History, Affiliations & Rankings

Established in 1933, Colorado State University-Pueblo (CSU–Pueblo) is a public university in Pueblo, Colorado. Currently, CSU Pueblo is also ranked in the top 100 for best regional western universities. The university has operated under five different names and eventually changed to Colorado State University-Pueblo. Colorado State University-Pueblo is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. More than 10 Individual programs approved by specialized accreditation agencies

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

CSU-Pueblo's campus, spanning more than 275 acres, is situated in the north end of Pueblo, Colorado. With a population of about 100,000, Pueblo is located in the heart of the state, along the Arkansas River near the Greenhorn Mountains in Southern Colorado. CSU is a regional comprehensive university offering 29 baccalaureate and 9 master's degree programs, serving more than 5,000 students from all 50 states and 23 countries. The athletics department supports 16 intercollegiate athletics programs. CSU-Pueblo features a cheerleading squad and dance team, club baseball, racquetball, climbing, rugby, and men's soccer. Offered courses are in the field of Sociology, Criminology emphasis, Social Work, Business Administration- Management - as well as a variety of lower-division general education courses.  

Accomplishments & Alumni

CSU–Pueblo is a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), the oldest conference operating in NCAA Division II and the fourth oldest athletic conference in the United States. In 2002, it was designated a Hispanic-Serving Institution. In 2008, it was awarded the Outstanding HACU-Member Institution Award by the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU). The undergraduate engineering program was ranked in the nation’s top 100 by the U.S. News and World Report. The University also competes in 22 men's and women's sports at the NCAA Division II level through the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. CSU-Pueblo offers most international students some type of financial aid, guaranteed on-campus employment, on-campus living assistance, or various graduate assistantships and scholarships (academic and athletic). Some of the notable alumni are Dax Charles, Michael Arnzen, and Frank Grant. 

Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

With a student strength of more than 35,000 students from 41 states and 32 countries, the institution is ranked #101 in male to female diversity nationwide. While approximately 42% of the student population belongs to the age range of 18-24 years, almost 30% of students belong to the age group 35 years and above. International students make up 2.5% of the student population. Along with aiding the students in getting jobs, the institution offers month-long summer internships to students in a variety of disciplines with the Smithsonian Institution.
