Community College of Philadelphia (CCP) is a Public Community College situated in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. CCP  was established in 1964 and started offering a range of courses in 1965. Community College of Philadelphia is the largest public institution of higher education in Philadelphia and sixth in Pennsylvania, serving over 685,000 students since the inception of the college. The courses offered at CCP are accredited by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The Community College of Philadelphia is the only community college in the country to receive the Center of Excellence designation by the National League for Nursing in 2004.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The Community College of Philadelphia (CCP) earlier had two campuses that were consolidated in 1983 to form a single main campus located at 1700 Spring Garden Street, Philadelphia. Currently, CCP offers a range of programmes and higher education courses at three other centres, namely, the Northeast Regional Centre, the Northwest Regional Centre and the West Regional Centre. More than 100 degree and certificate programmes in various areas of studies like Business, Science and Technology, Entrepreneurship and Law, Liberal Arts and Communications, Health Care, Design, Construction and Transportation, Creative Art and Education and Human Services are offered at the university campus. Both full time and part-time options are available for students to study and gain the necessary skills and qualifications for the in-demand fields of study.

Over the years since its establishment, the college has educated more than 685,000 students and helped them secure a good career. With CCP’s high standards of education in more than 70-degree programmes, certificate courses and continuing education programmes, students have immense opportunities to learn and grow in their respective fields. The advanced and unique courses offered at the Community College of Philadelphia hold national recognition and attract students from across the country and the world to be a part of the growing community. The Biomedical Research Technician (BRT)  Apprenticeship programme offered at the Community College of Philadelphia (CCP) is the first first-ever registered, nontraditional apprenticeship programme in the field of biomedical research to be offered in Pennsylvania. 

 Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

Community College of Philadelphia (CCP) is a community of more than 24,000 students enrolled in either full or part-time courses. It is one of the few colleges with more female students than male students, with 66% of the students at CCP are women. The international students are an integral part of the community and assist in the global perspective of the college. The Students, staff and faculty members from different cultural backgrounds, age and nationalities make the community rich in diversity and enriches the learning environment. The partnership of the CCP community with the companies and employers help students find a job soon after the completion of their course among which 85% are employed within Philadelphia in different sectors and organizations.

COVID- 19 Response

The Community College of Philadelphia understands the gravity of the situation due to the pandemic and has released an appropriate COVID-19 Response. From extensive social distancing measures to hybrid models of learning, CCP is equipped to deal with the pandemic in the best possible manner, in a bid to keep its students, staff and faculty members.

  • The Spring 2021 classes at the Community College of Philadelphia commences in online mode and the admission support and other services are available remotely. 

  • Students can visit the campus in exceptional cases but need to follow the safety guidelines as defined by the college. 

  • Before visiting the campus, one must log in to the MyCCP App or the MyCCP Portal and complete the COVID-19 Screening Form.

  • One must use a cloth face covering all the time, maintain social distancing and get temperature checked at the entrance.

  • Community College of Philadelphia continues to offer Wellness and Support services online. Students can get in touch with the college counsellors community member for any personal assistance or help. The college is making all efforts to ensure the physical and mental well-being of all especially at the time of pandemic when there are limited physical interaction and activities.

Community College of Philadelphia Scholarship

Community College of Philadelphia spends millions of dollars in scholarships to help students manage their study costs and living expenses while pursuing higher education at the College. There are almost 100 scholarships available for students under different categories and areas of study.

Both current and new students can apply for a scholarship offered by the Community College of Philadelphia (CCP) based on their eligibility and requirements. New students must first apply for admissions and get a student identification number to apply for a scholarship.

  • After receiving the student identification number, create a MyCCP account to apply for a scholarship.

  • Login to your MyCCP account to access the Scholarship Application form.

  • Visit the Student Tab section and then Scholarship Awards. Complete the scholarship application for the 2021-22 academic year, thereafter.

  • You can save the application and continue at a later date till the application is submitted successfully.

Create an effective and flawless essay for your scholarship applications and confirm the other documents that need to be uploaded with the CCP Scholarship application.

Scholarship Application Date 

The application for the different scholarships is accepted throughout the year. But the deadline to submit the application is June 30 of each academic year, if you wish to avail the scholarship for the current academic year. You can apply for a specific scholarship only once a year.
