History, Affiliations & Rankings

California State University, Los Angeles, was founded as Los Angeles State College in 1947 by an Act of the California Council. The school was then named as Los Angeles State College of Applied Arts and Sciences in September 1949 and as California State College at Los Angeles in January 1964. The school got the college status and its current name in 1972. The college has the accreditation of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). California State University, Los Angeles is ranked at 31st position in the Best Colleges in Regional Universities West by the US News and World Report 2020 Edition.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
 
The college has an urban setting with a campus size of 175 acres. It offers facilities like a library supplied with a collection of books and archives, Fine Arts Gallery, and an Arts Complex. The college comprises seven schools offering 57 majors, 51 master’s projects, and four doctoral programs. It also offers accounts, anthropology, arts, business, sciences software engineering, nursing, theory, financial aspects, arithmetic, and brain research.

Accomplishments & Alumni

The College of Professional and Global Education (PaGE) at Cal State LA works to connect the resources with local organizations and businesses. CSU Entertainment Alliance works to enhance private-public partnerships. It participates through various activities including corporate initiatives and curriculum development like System-wide Disney Internship Agreement, Twitch esports course development & mentorship, Careers in Entertainment Online Course Development, NASDAQ Entrepreneurship Studios, AT&T Entertainment Group Digital Media Career Experience Program to name a few. Notable alumni include Leana Wen, Sam Elliott, Billie Jean King, Rosario Marin, Samuel Durrance, Edward, James Olmos, and many more.

Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

CSU LA has 28,000 students which include around 800 foreign students and a group of 1,700 qualified employees. The student body comprises around 64% Hispanic, 15% Asian and rest is a mix of White, Black, or African American and others. The institution has a positive gender ratio with roughly 58% women and 42% men. WIth 90% of the students belonging to California, about 2000 international students from 44 countries also attend the institution. International students makeup 8% of the student population and majorly belong to India, China, and Saudi Arabia. The Career Development Centre maintains partnerships with several employers like Google, Facebook, Apple, etc., to present students with employment opportunities. Top employers include Microsoft, Xerox, Google, Mckinsey, Deloitte, KPMG and so on.
