Fairfield University traces its history back to 1942 with the establishment of the College of Arts and Sciences. It is affiliated to the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU) and also by the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU) and the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) owing to its Jesuit origins.

Recognized as one of the top-20 among those that are a 'challenge to the elite universities' and also as 'ones to become globally recognized by 2030' by World University Rankings and Times Higher Education. Fairfield is also ranked No.1 for Best Undergraduate Teaching, No.3 for 2020 among Northern Regional Universities, ranked No.2 Most Innovative and No.12 Best Value College (U.S. News & World Report). Money Princeton Review ranks Fairfield No.6 - Best Quality Life & No.13-Happiest Students Nationally.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

With a beautiful mix of futuristic, modern and historic architecture, the Fairfield University campus encompasses an area of 200 acres. The campus has about 35 buildings which include the Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions, Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies, School of Engineering, Charles F. Dolan School of Business and the Fairfield University College of Arts and Sciences. 

Offering over 60 Programs of choice for undergraduates and over forty Graduate Programs, the most selected programs at Fairfield include Nursing, Marketing, Finance, Accounting, Psychology, Communication, and Biology. Fairfield students enjoy detailed attention owing to the 12:1 student: faculty ratio and the largest class size averages out to be 22 with over eighty percent classes with less than a class strength of thirty.

Accomplishments & Alumni 

Being one of the cleanest and greenest campuses on the continent, Fairfield has been honored by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for setting up a $9.6 Million 4.6MW CHP power plant, whilst also being the First American University to install a Reverse Vending Machine that also recycles bottles after use. Also recognized by Forbes as among Top 20% Colleges in America, Fairfield University is also one of the best Nursing Universities in the country according to The Wall Street Journal, Times Higher Education & Niche. With a $2 Billion/Year contribution to the CT Economy, Fairfield Alumni are spread far and wide. With over 50,000+ in the Connecticut region itself, Fairfield recognizes over 1,80,000 professionals as their alumni. Some famous names to grace the list are Katherine Lapp (Exec. VP Harvard Uni), Bob Sullivan (MSNBC founder), 7th Federal Reserve Bank of New York President E. Gerald Corrigan, John L.
