History, Affiliations & Rankings

Faulkner University was founded in 1942. It is a private Christian university. After 1953, the university was called Alabama Christian College (ACC). In 1985, the school was renamed Faulkner University in honour of Rd. James H. Faulkner Sr., a long-time supporter and chairman of the board. As per the excellence, Faulkner University is ranked #96-122 in Regional Universities South by US News and World Report Edition 2020. According to the Times Higher Education US Rankings 2017, the university was ranked at > 800th. The institution is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate, baccalaureate, masters, and doctorate degrees.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The major campus of the University is in Montgomery. The campuses extents in Mobile, Birmingham, and Huntsville. Having a suburban setting, its campus size is of about 84 acres. Faulkner University is a small establishment with around 2000 undergraduate students.  Popular courses of majors include Criminal Justice, Business, Human Resources, and Safety Studies. 

Accomplishments & Alumni 

Faulkner University has 20 intramural and 10 intercollegiate sports teams. The athletes are known as Eagles. Both men and women sports teams compete nationally in basketball, golf and soccer. Noted alumni of the university include Bobby Bright – United States Congressman from Alabama, Marcus Brimah – professional Mixed Martial Artist, Beau Tarbert, Corey Black, Ray Ray Armstrong and Tim Ragland-Mayor of Talladega, Alabama.

Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

The student-faculty ratio at Faulkner University is 12:1. Interestingly, there are fewer than 20 students in each class. The undergraduate gender ratio is positive for women 60% and 40 men. Also, Faulkner University offers financial aid to about 88% of its students of the undergraduate programs. Approximately 74.4% of the students come from within Alabama, along with a modest number from 19 countries also attend the higher education institution. Top organizations where the alumni work includes Faulkner University, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, Regions Bank, State of Alabama, Southern Company, AT&T, and Wells Fargo.
