Indiana University – Bloomington (IU Bloomington) was founded in 1820. It is situated in Bloomington, Indiana and is a flagship university under the Indiana University system. The University is a public research university and is always ranked among the top 100 national universities in the US and the top 50 public universities. IU Bloomington is a member of the North Central Association and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Indiana University—Bloomington is ranked #79 in the 2020 edition of Best Colleges among National Universities by the US News and World report 2020 edition.

The campus is distributed in an area of 1939 acres. It is a member of the Association of American Universities and has numerous schools and programs, including Jacobs School of Music, Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs, Kelley School of Business, School of Public Health, Maurer School of Law,and Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies.
